Founder's note

“I printed receipts, stood in queues, and watched the paper pile up. That's where this started.”

01The paper trail

Paying dues meant a bank queue, a stamp, and an office

I was a student at Yabatech. To pay my faculty dues, I had to queue at the bank, print a receipt, walk it to my faculty representative to get it stamped, then take it to an office to actually use it. I remember standing in that office once and seeing a heap of paper — receipts and documents piled up, probably headed for the bin. Money spent on printing, hours spent in queues, for something that should take a minute.

02The first build

I showed the code to my faculty rep before anyone else

I'd built things before, so I thought: let me use what I know. I wrote the first version myself and showed it to my faculty representative first. He tried it and said, “this works.” That reaction is what kept me going.

03The gap in the market

I researched why nobody was using the tools that already existed

Before building anything, I asked myself: why aren't faculties and departments already using Paystack or Flutterwave? These platforms exist. They work. So what's stopping student unions? When I looked into it, one of the core barriers was KYC — these platforms required business registration, tax IDs, and formal documentation. A faculty association isn't a registered business; it's a group of students trying to collect dues. That gap — between how communities actually exist and what payment infrastructure assumes they are — is exactly what Packet Africa was built to close.

04The real strategy

Everything since has come from listening, not a roadmap

Once faculty and department reps started using it, they kept telling me what they needed next. That's genuinely how ticketing, voting, and storefronts got built — not from a plan I wrote alone, but from listening to the people actually running these communities, and building alongside them, again and again.

The old way

WhatsApp transfers, no receipts

The old way

Google Forms elections no one trusted

Anyone could vote twice. Results were delayed by days. Disputes destroyed communities.

The Packet way

One-person-one-vote protection with a live public leaderboard — fraud-proof by design.

The old way

Ticket sales in spreadsheets

Event organisers sold tickets manually. Counterfeit entries, long queues, lost revenue at the door.

The Packet way

Scannable QR codes per attendee, instant checkout, and check-in that ends the queue entirely.

One platform. Four tools that pay you.

Everything your community needs to collect, sell, vote, and grow — in a packet.

Built campus by campus — proving that trust, transparency, and community-first infrastructure actually work at scale.

The founding team

Built by people who lived the problem.

We've paid dues, run elections and organized events the broken way. That's exactly why we built Packet Africa.

Where we're headed

The campus is the starting line, not the finish.

Every community on earth has the same core problem: dues to collect, events to run, and leaders to elect. We started with 630+ Nigerian higher institutions because the need was undeniable and concentrated — but the model works anywhere humans come together. Alumni networks, professional associations, diaspora groups, neighbourhood unions. Every student who graduates carries Packet Africa with them into the next community they join.

01

Dominate Nigerian university campusesActive now

Deepen coverage across SUGs, faculties, and departments nationwide.

02

Scale to West Africa and beyond

We are already receiving interest from other West African countries. Our community monetisation tools are ready to travel — and we are ready to take them there.

03

A global platform for every community

Community is not an African problem — it is a human one. Wherever people gather, dues are collected, events are held, and leaders are elected. We are building the infrastructure for all of them, on every continent.
